So, I have this dress...

Back in 2006, I worked at the Betsey Johnson sample sale while I was a design intern there.  I saw a dress on the racks that I wanted so badly, but it was not my size.  I searched the entire place hoping to find it, but 10's were hard to come by.  I finally found an 8 and decided to go for it.
I got back to my tiny cell of a room at The Webster and immediately tried it on.  I was pretty disappointed to find that I could not get the buttons to reach the button holes.
Here is the positive part of the story though...6 years later, I can finally button it.
Now I want to wear it, but the dress is a bit fancy and the only fancy events I attend are weddings.
Here is my dilemma...
The dress is white.
Can I wear a white dress to someone else's wedding?
Your advice is much appreciated.

Baby Under Furniture #5 and Crib Transition

Pearl is finding more interesting furniture to explore now that she can crawl, but she can get herself out now so I usually don't have time to photograph her adventures.  Here are a couple I was able to capture...
We transitioned Pearl to the crib a few weeks ago.  She has slept through the night since she was two months old, but now that she is in the crib, it doesn't happen anymore.  Some nights she just wakes up one or two times and goes to sleep easily if I go in there to lay her down and rub her face.  I don't know why rubbing her face works, but sometimes it does.
Other nights are terrible.  Like last night for example.  She went to bed around 9:30, woke up at 10:45, I got her back to sleep, woke up at 12:00, I got her back to sleep, then again at 2:00, and I couldn't get her to sleep again.  I finally gave up and just took her to bed with me where she slept soundly until 7am.
I've tried letting her "cry it out" a couple of times for 20 minutes.  She never gives up though and rams her head into the side of the crib trying to crawl around in the dark.  I don't feel comfortable  letting her do that.  Also, after trying the cry it out method one night, she lost her voice the next day from all of the screaming.  She sounded so pathetic, I felt terrible.  Clearly, this method does not work for us.
If you have suggestions on anything else to try, please share!

Portlander Problems #12

1. I'm often getting quick last minute visits from family members who were in town to visit Ikea. "Hey, we came up to go to Ikea and it looks like we have time to stop by, be there in ten minutes."  I love seeing family, but let's be honest, I wouldn't be getting visits if it were not for Ikea.
2. Is a carb overdose possible? I can't resist Dave's Killer Bread and it is available at every grocery store and nearly every restaurant I go to.  I eat about a loaf a week.
3. All of my friends are moving to the west side. They may as well be a state away as far as I'm concerned.  I need east side friends.

Fishing Trip

It was an early morning today, but totally worth it.  We took Pearl on her first fishing trip.  Pearl and I didn't do any fishing, but we enjoyed the beautiful scenery while Jeremy did all of the work.  Getting up early wasn't Pearl's favorite, but after a nap in the car, she was so happy.  She had a great time!

Vintage Dresses For Pearl

Remember this post?
After getting great feedback from photographer friends, I chose the below two dresses to buy.  They are both so cute and I can't decide which to have Pearl wear during family photos.  Which would you choose?  Maybe I should just bring them both?
Also, notice the tongue. Stinker.
Thanks for the help :)

Portlander Problems #11

1. I took Pearl for an early morning walk yesterday because it was supposed to warm up, and who wants to go outside in anything hotter than 85 degrees?  I know I don't.
2. It was hot this weekend and I was wearing boots and leggings with my summer dress.  I'm just not ready to give them up.  It wasn't very comfortable though.
3. Do containers that are made from plants go in the compost bin or the recycling? Compost, right?

Twinsies

It's pretty much standard procedure for mothers to dress their daughters like themselves, right?
On Saturday, Pearl spit up on both of us so I went to change our clothes.  I pulled out an H&M dress that I have had for a couple of years. Then I remembered that Pearl had something similar in her closet that had yet to be worn.
So, I got us dressed and told Jeremy he had to take our photos.  I'm sure there was some major eye rolling going on behind the lens.
If we ever have a boy, maybe he will understand.
